Celine

Comes in 3's, yes? Who is the next celebrity to use donor eggs?

Celine Dion, at age 42 and 9 years since her son and 6 acknowledged IVF tries is pregnant with twins. Perhaps these are her own eggs, but I sincerely doubt it. (BTW, I do have a friend who on her 7th IVF attempt with her own eggs got pg with twins using LESS hcg to stop frying her eggs, but she is by far the exception)

Again, I don't judge her. What if you were one of the first people to adopt in the world? Wouldn't you want some privacy. But all these women in our boats who don't know about DE and who think they just need One More Try.

Oh, and this story about John Travolta and Kelly Preston annoys the ever loving effing shite out of me: "it's a miracle! We've been trying for a really, really long time and we really, really wanted it!!" OK! That was my problem!!! I probably was too stressed about it, too. Should have just taken a babymoon and relaxed. Have a bottle of wine. (I see this on a bulletin board as advice all the time. Dude I have one most nights; it didn't appear to help)

OK--so our plans to donate our embryos have fallen through. Anyone have information on adopting embryos? We're ready to help another family or two.

Hi DE Mommy-- I agree about perpetuating the myth that "it just takes a little positive thinking and some relaxation and you will have that baby in your arms in no time" is such a load of bull crap. Uggghh. I also know that she may not want to announce to the world that the babies are from a donor eggs until she tells the children herself......

On your second point, I have no advice about embryo donation. However, I would be interested in hearing what you discover (and what you did initially that didn't work out.) Although we are not at the stage where we want to donate out our embryos yet, we want to do that eventually. I haven't done any research on this yet, so I am very interested in what needs to be done!

Oh, I just had a thought. You know, Dora at http://mypreconceivednotion.blogspot.com/ did embryo adoption. Granted she befriended someone on the internet (by simply saying she was interested in embryo adoption) and they donated to her directly. So she may not know what it would take if you went through an organization, but perhaps...

Good hearing from you! B

I have a blog set up for Genetic Parents who will or have donated their embryos, if you're interested in reading it. It's placingparents.org

We went through an agency, but I'm very familiar with the different organizations/clinics that you can use, based on your preference.

Just let me know. I'd be happy to share what I know about the process.

Best - Sheila

I can't believe they are passing this off as their own gametes. "We tried for several years, and we didn't think it was going to happen for us," At 47?! They absolutely used DE.

I know a couple of people who may be interested in your embryos. Are you interested in an open relationship or are you hoping to make it anonymous? One is looking for a second child after adopting and the other is an older (early 40's) lesbian couple.

I'm with you. Yes, it's theoretically possible these are Celine's eggs (she has the money to never stop trying and she's not technically old enough for me to discount success with her eggs at all) but after so many prior attempts, what a fricken coincidence that she didn't succeed with one (much more believable) but with two? Hmm.....

And I give up on educating women. They're willfully ignorant. When Ke.ll.y P. announced her pregnancy (shocked it wasn't triplets), women in my office said it was so wonderful that she didn't have trouble getting pregnant and scoffed at my comment that there is no way in hell it's her egg.

Whatev! Maybe this works in my favor, so I'll just shut up. Hopefully most people will just think OF COURSE my child is my genetic offspring. Heck, I'm just a "baby" at 43. (roll eyes)

I'm really behind in my blog reading (obviously). Other than the usual places (Snowflakes, etc.), there is an organization called PVED (parents via egg donation) run by someone named Marna Gatlin. I've been on her Listserv forever. She would probably be glad to help you find other couples who would love to have the opportunity to start a family who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford it.

First time reader, over from Sky's blog. Were you able to find homes for your embryos?
